Minister Hails Board Members for Steering UBTEB Forward
On 26th July 2022, the Hon. Minister of Education and Sports, Hon. Janet Kataaha Museveni, commended the UBTEB Board Chairperson Dr. Eng. Silver Mugisha and members for the job well done since they were inaugurated in July 2019.
In accordance with the Statutory instrument 2009 No.9, the Board is composed of 15 members from stipulated constituencies. The Minister of Education and Sports duly appointed the Board members for the smooth running of the Board. The Minister’s communication was read by Hon. J.C Muyingo at Skyz hotel.
Board members were called upon to serve in a professional manner that will drive to the achievement of the mandate of the Board. The Board was hailed for driving innovation and assessment strategies in accordance with the NDPIII and the NRM Manifesto 2021-2026. “I would like to thank the Chairperson and Board for fast tracking the modularisation of TVET assessment in accordance with our National Development Plan. This is commendable and my Ministry will render all the necessary support to enable the success of this initiative.”The Minister stated.
The Board Chairperson Dr. Silver Mugisha thanked the Minister for the trust and vote of confidence in appointing them to leadership of the Board. Dr. Mugisha pledged to work closely with the Management team of the Board to ensure the effective and efficient use of the resources of the Board. The Minister on the other hand called upon the Board members to ensure quality assessment processes by the Board in order to address skills gaps and solve the unemployment problem. The Board was further commended for rolling out modular assessment for UCPC and National Certificate-Technical programmes. Among the key milestones, the Board registered increase in the number of candidates assessed by the Board, accredited training institutions as well as the construction of the Assessment Centre.
The Executive Secretary, UBTEB Oyesigye Onesmus(CPA), commended the outgoing Bord for a cordial relationship during their tenure of service. He pledged to continuously engage the Board for appropriate guidance on key policy matters in line with the implementation of the Strategic Plan. The new Board members after inauguration were taken through Corporate Governance for two days by a team of consultants with a view of enhancing their capacity to deliver and perform the oversight.
